Decoherence-assisted spectroscopy of a single Mg+ ion 

"We anticipate that this spectroscopy method is only one of many future techniques that take advantage of decoherence effects that are typically thought of as detrimental when controlling quantum systems" [Phys. Rev. Lett. 112, 113003 (2014)].


In one of our latest endeavors, we presented a novel high-resolution spectroscopy technique suitable for a variety of quantum systems: The spectroscopic signal is generated from the destruction of an electronic ground state superposition by single photons.
